It’s about to be Nutcracker season in Boston. But your options for viewing the holiday favorite this year go beyond the traditional Tchaikovsky-scored ballet. Here’s a sampling of just some of The Nutcracker performances you can catch in town. Treat yourself to something from the Land of Sweets if you match each Nutcracker image to the correct show.

1. Boston Ballet artistic director Mikko Nissinen reimagined the family-friendly ballet with new sets, costumes and refreshed choreography five years ago. The company runs The Nutcracker performances from Nov. 24 through New Year’s Eve at the Boston Opera House.
2. Billed as a contemporary take on the classic, The Hip-Hop Nutcracker drops a few of the characters into a nightclub and swaps out the Land of Sweets for 1980s Brooklyn. Featuring an electric violinist and plenty of break dancing, the national tour stops at Boch Shubert Theatre for the first time on Dec. 21-23.
3. Anthony Williams’ Urban Nutcracker hits the stage for the 17th year, mixing tap, hip-hop, flamenco dance and more, while adding in some beats from Duke Ellington. Broadway dancer and Dorchester native Sean Fiedler rejoins the show, which incorporates iconic Boston landmarks such as the Public Garden and Top of the Hub on stage at John Hancock Hall on Dec. 15-28.
4. Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker features dancers from around the world when it stops in town during the 25th anniversary of its North American tour. A 60-foot Christmas tree, 10-foot tall puppets and 100 costumes are all part of the two performances on Dec. 3 at the Orpheum Theatre.
