As the book buyer at Partners Village Store in Westport, Elizabeth Lane is always on the hunt for page-turners. Now she’s sharing finds with bookworms beyond the South Coast as the founder of Quarterlane, a subscription service that delivers three new reads every three months.

“I was inspired to find a way to bring the trust and discernment inherent within a local bookstore to the online space,” Lane explains. “My hope with Quarterlane is also to shift a certain mindset around the perception of books—taking books from an item many customers now believe should be deeply discounted and elevating the printed book to the luxury status it so dearly deserves.” Accordingly, she aims to make each delivery feel like a special one, filling the Winter Fiction box with Zadie Smith’s Swing Time, Lucy Wood’s Weathering and Alice Hoffman’s Faithful,
plus a few extra goodies, including a lavender-scented candle and a pint-sized custom artwork by Brooklyn illustrator Samantha Hahn.

Besides the signature fiction subscription, Lane has introduced a few themed collections, like the Aesthete, featuring coffee table toppers about fashion and design, and the Epicurean, a curated trio of cookbooks—expect second helpings of that one. “We will likely feature our Epicurean box again as I adore cookbooks,” she says. “I find myself reading them in bed almost as often as I do fiction!”
