If you’ve wandered past the Greenway recently, you’ve likely noticed an engineering marvel—not the surrounding skyscrapers but the massive aerial sculpture strung between them. That would be Janet Echelman’s As If It Were Already Here, made up of more than 100 miles of rope that’s stronger than steel yet sways with the breeze. On view through October, the installation is the most ambitious commission yet from the Greenway Conservancy’s Public Art Program, which has also recently hosted the Flash Forward Festival’s shipping container galleries and Shinique Smith’s 70-foot mural Seven Moon Junction (pictured)—making the Greenway one of the city’s prime destinations for a little culture and a little sun.
