On a quiet street off the North End’s main artery sits a new hat shop and haberdashery with a very old soul. Named after self-taught hatmaker Steve Finch’s grandfather, William Carlton Workshop turns out handsome handmade caps and leather goods, with clothing and shoe lines possibly in the pipeline. Canine mascot Bentley will step aside to let you inside the shop, where antique Singer sewing machines flank vintage suitcases and even the soft light streaming through the window seems imported from another time.
