The new UNI is a fantastic reimaging of Ken Oringer’s flagship restaurant, ditching Clio’s costly French/Japanese fusion for sushi and affordable izakaya snacks like pork-belly buns, skewers, dumplings and ramen while preserving the old Uni’s extravagant imported sashimi. Equally thrilling is the reinvention of the bar under the direction of Jason Kilgore, who complements the craft-cocktail chops he honed at the Hawthorne with scholarly wine knowledge, instantly making UNI one of the Back Bay’s best bars.
