The term “rad” might be a little outdated, but it sums up our feelings about one of the city’s newest attractions. Plans for a skatepark began in 2000, and when it finally opened underneath the Zakim Bridge in November, it drew raves from local skateboarders—in no small part because more than 400 pro and local skaters offered input on the design. Connected to Charlestown by pedestrian bridges, the 40,000-square-foot Cambridge park is tricked out with three skating bowls, including one pro bowl that’s 11-and-a-half feet deep. But the real gem is a street skating area with ledges, stairs and features that replicate storied skating spots around town. Sick move.
