The Catholic Church’s sex-abuse scandal is an all-too-well known story in Boston, so it’s a credit to director/co-writer Tom McCarthy that the movie about The Boston Globe’s reporting still felt fresh. A star-studded cast featuring Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams and homeboy John Slattery drew attention during the filming, but it was the real-life Spotlight Team that took bows during the red-carpet season, culminating with a well-deserved Best Picture win at the Oscars.
