Staycations were “in” out of necessity during the penny-pinching days of the Great Recession, but all the sleek new options in town are providing enticement now. More than 500 new hotel rooms have been added in Boston in the past year, ranging from the 96-room expansion at Hotel Commonwealth (now home to a tricked-out Fenway Park Suite) to the new 242-room Godfrey Hotel, which sports a handsome marble lobby adjoining a cafe from specialty coffee pioneer George Howell. Add in the stunning views at Outlook and the indoor splash pool at Aloft, and you could spend a whole week hotel-hopping. And with more than 4,000 hotel rooms already approved for construction across the city, the options are sure to expand.
