Multihyphenate talent Melinda Lopez is an accomplished actress and playwright, and she occupied both roles this fall with Mala, her most personal work yet. ArtsEmerson presented the world premiere of her one-woman memory play, an Elliot Norton Award winner for best new script, which was inspired by Lopez’s experience caring for her mother in the final year of her life. Good news for those who missed the show the first time around: You can catch Lopez in an encore run at the Huntington Theatre Company in January.
