For a classically trained artist, the face is just another canvas. Makeup artist and db cosmetics founder Mariolga Pantazopoulos studied painting at Pratt Institute, but has been in the makeup biz for almost 13 years and  has worked her magic for Boston Fashion Week since 2011. What’s different this season is that many of these looks can translate off the runway. Pantazopoulos gives us three colorful ideas for fall.

Sheer wash of color
Using a fluffy brush, sweep a pumpkin shadow over your lids. Add a couple coats of mascara and skip eyeliner for a romantic effect that Pantazopoulos calls a veil. Try db cosmetics enhance:eye in bronze for controlled, long-lasting pigment.

Iridescent nail polish
Pantazopoulos favors metallic, shimmery nail colors that “almost pick up the shade nearest to it.” Essie’s Repstyle is a shape-shifting bronze magnetic polish that reflects olive tones in the light.

Bold lips
A wine- or burgundy-colored lipstick gives an edgier look, but Pantazopoulos recommends keeping eyes and cheeks light when playing up the lips. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Fiery offers full coverage and a matte finish.
