Boston University student Olivia Culpo won her first pageant, a state title, with a $20 rental dress and a whole lot of poise. Months later, she was crowned Miss USA 2012. But it’s not all triumphs and tiaras for this beauty queen. Culpo, 20, needs to care for her skin, just like the rest of us. After all, she says, “You’re stuck with your skin for life.” Here are the trade secrets of her dermatological routine.
Cool as a Cucumber
Take advantage of the fruit’s natural moisture, which decreases swelling and dark bags around your eyes.
Scrub-a-Dub-Dub
Exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells and prevent dryness and blemishes, enhancing your natural radiance.
First Coat
Use a primer before your foundation. Doing so stops bacteria from seeping into your skin and wards off discoloration and age lines.
Where the Sun Don’t Shine
Apply a moisturizer with a higher SPF rating (30+) to avoid unsightly spots, wrinkles and skin disease that result from sun damage.
The Berry Necessities
Load up on antioxidants, which slow down the aging process. Graze on fruit like blueberries and cantaloupe, and drink green tea and pomegranate juice to boost your intake.
