What’s even more awesome than awesome? Even more awesome! That’s what attendees at the inaugural Allston’s Awesome Christmas will get when Rock City’s annual Awesome Day Fest joins forces with last year’s Allston Christmas Block Party for a neighborhood-wide rager celebrating music, art and that special time of year when residents on-the-move dump all their shit out on the streets, ripe for the scavenging. Highlights of the three-day fest include a free (with RSVP) Saturday block party at Pop Allston featuring performances by Juliana Hatfield and Evan Dando’s reunited college band Blake Babies as well as Dutch Rebelle, Weakened Friends and the Doped Up Dollies (along with a WJMN Campus Invasion voter registration station for political procrastinators); shows by a host of upcoming local talent all weekend at Great Scott and O’Brien’s; libations from PBR and Deep Eddy vodka and more. One man’s trash may be another man’s treasure but, either way, it’s awesome when Allston’s Awesome Christmas hits the ‘hood Sept. 9-11. Free, block party; $12, wristbands for individual shows; $20, all-access.
