'Camelot'

Talk about a second act. After an infection resulted in the loss of his leg in December, longtime Lyric Stage producing artistic director Spiro Veloudos is back in the director’s chair for the company’s season-closing production, a fresh adaptation of Camelot. The streamlined script, retooled by award-winning screenwriter David Lee (Cheers and Frasier), pares down the musical’s pageantry to allow King Arthur, Guenevere and Sir Lancelot’s love triangle to take center stage. But the intimate production retains all the classic songs, from “If Ever I Would Leave You” to the title number. Camelot enjoys a welcome revival at the Lyric Stage through June 25. / Courtney Garvey
