Joe Purdy & Amber Rubarth

Singing in the car has a whole new meaning for folk musicians Joe Purdy and Amber Rubarth, who star in the recently released independent film American Folk. The flick follows two troubadours who find solace in their music and in each other while on a cross-country road trip to New York after their East Coast-bound plane is grounded in California in the wake of Sept. 11. Much like their film counterparts, Purdy and Rubarth are on a musical odyssey touring the nation in support of the soundtrack, for which they penned five original songs that combine folk traditions with a youthful flair.
