Outdoor beer gardens are all the rage these days, and Harpoon is getting in on the action outside its acclaimed Harpoon Beer Hall in the Seaport. Harpoon Keg Yard, which launched softly at the end of June, is set to be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 7 pm through October (weather permitting).
“This is a pop-up beer drinking experience—it is not meant to recreate the experience inside the Harpoon Beer Hall. But it is a cool and unique drinking experience among the brewery kegs and pallets,” says Harpoon spokeswoman Liz Melby. “It’s a simple, bare-bones setup in an active production space during the week. There will be tables and folding chairs, some in the shade and some not depending on the time of day.”
Along with a cornhole setup and a giant Jenga game available, customers can also order Harpoon’s pretzels from the outdoor spot. There will be six taps in operation, serving the ubiquitous IPA, UFO White, Harpoon Cider, Camp Wannamago, UFO Huckleberry and a rotating variety such as the House Golden. All growler refills and other purchases will need to be made inside the brewery.
