Sandy Russo and her famed Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe cupcakes have been satisfying the North End’s sweet tooth for more than a decade, but her latest venture is all about the savory. Lulu’s Kitchen, which opened next to the Boston Public Market in November, serves up comfort food such as fried chicken, mac and cheese, grits and sandwiches like the Oughta Be Illegal Bagel with andouille sausage. Made with honey-infused dough and fermented for two days before being boiled along with a splash of smoked tea, the bagel sandwiches an over-easy egg, aged cheddar, arugula and Russo’s own spicy, smoked andouille sausage. Enjoy it day or night come spring, when late-night hours will keep the doors open on weekends till last call.

Oughta Be Illegal Bagel with andouille sausage, $5.50 at Lulu’s Kitchen, 120 Blackstone St., Boston (617-936-3246) lulusboston.com
