On the Lamb

Fans of JP’s now-shuttered Irish pub James’s Gate don’t need to go far for their next pint. Co-owner Paul Byrne’s new pub, The Gate, opened in May in Egleston Square, just up the street from the former neighborhood favorite. Soak up the suds with the hearty lamb burger, an organic ground patty made with herbs and onions that’s sandwiched in a buttered brioche roll along with arugula, Thousand Island dressing, grilled red onions and Westfield Farm’s herbed goat cheese. “In the bottom layer, you’ll see a little bit of bull’s blood beet microgreens,” says executive chef Axel Segura Jr. “It gives it a little more color, so it’s a bit more vibrant.” Be sure to save room for the accompanying hand-cut fries.
