The Thinker’s Drinker
“I wanted to have a site that presented the best of the Boston bar scene, and treated the top bartenders the way
top chefs are treated,” says Lauren Clark. It was 2006, the crest of the craft cocktail resurgence, when the former bartender, brewer and frustrated freelancer launched Drinkboston.com. Stocked with profiles, interviews and surveys like “Guilty Pleasures & Gateway Drinks,” it’s a place where newbies can learn and industry veterans can admit a former fondness for SoCo and Mountain Dew. “At the time, I thought I’m probably not the only person in the city interested in what these professionals are doing,” Clark says. Now with 16,000 original hits a month, Clark has become a curator for Boston’s spirited zeitgeist.
