Combining Nicki Minaj pink, Ryan Seacrest–style puns and starlet-chic coiffs, Blo is changing blow drys in Boston. The original North American blow-dry bar just opened its first Massachusetts outpost in the South End, complete with the chain’s signature sassy, bubblegum aesthetic and kicky lingo (termed, naturally, “blocabulary”). Services like extensions and a mens-only Blo Bro are options, but the no-cut, no-color business’ biggest draw is its signature menu of seven 45-minute blow-out styles, each costing just $35. Pick between down ’dos like the Executive Sweet (“skyscraper straight”) and Sex, Hugs and Rock & Roll (tousled curls), or opt for a classic bun, boho braid or high-volume ponytail. Appointments are easy to secure over the phone or online, and hours starting at 7 am ensure Blo can tame tresses for any-o’clock.
