The Improper Bostonian, Boston’s premier lifestyle and entertainment magazine, is currently seeking a highly motivated sales manager to handle all sales functionality for the magazine in our Boston office. The sales manager will report directly to the publisher and be responsible for managing, mentoring and developing a sales team of 6-8 people, generating new print and digital sales leads, ideas and opportunities that net in sales growth and meeting a small annual individual sales quota. This person must be results driven and have a demonstrated track record of success in negotiating, developing and closing deals and successfully managing sales representatives. The Improper Bostonian seeks an experienced self-motivated sales professional to develop and sell advertising and marketing campaigns to new and exciting clients. The account executive will be responsible for new business development and digital sales utilizing the media platform offered by The Improper Bostonian. The ideal candidate will have prospecting/cold calling experience and an excellent ability to close and develop relationships. Time management and social presentation skills are a must. Our Editorial Department Is Hiring
The Improper Bostonian is seeking a full-time digital editor for our Boston office. This person must be highly motivated, creative and entrepreneurial, able to work under tight deadlines and quick turnaround times, and proficient in WordPress, basic HTML, Photoshop and MS Excel. We are seeking candidates with a minimum of three years of editorial experience. Please send your resume, cover letter and clips to email@example.com.
The digital editor’s responsibilities will include the following:
-Developing digital strategies to maximize traffic based on analytics, social data and other feedback
-Writing, assigning and editing daily and weekly web-exclusive content
-Maintaining the online events calendar, incorporating print content and new listings
-Updating the homepage and other landing pages
-Contributing to social media in coordination with the deputy managing editor
-Contributing ideas in editorial and company meetings
-Tagging new and historical content for SEO optimization
-Managing digital interns
-Editing, writing and assigning sponsored content as needed
-Serving as a resource to other departments as needed
The Improper Bostonian accepts interns for the fall, spring and summer semesters. The deadline for spring internships is December 1. The deadline for summer internships is April 1.
