Shea Rose

Singer-songwriter Shea Rose says the secret to her regimen, on or off stage, is “keep it simple, fresh and striking.” A Berklee alum who blends hip-hop, rock, soul and R&B, she once served as a CoverGirl spokesmodel for a special campaign, but says, “I try not to overdo it with product, makeup or accessories, but make choices that accent and highlight what nature’s given me.” One very personal accent in her travel bag is a gift from her brother: a pair of Women’s Barefoot Shoes by Vibram FiveFingers. “Flexible and easy to store in a carry-on or purse,” Rose says, “and a great conversation piece.

Bianca de la Garza

“I live in a world of high definition,“ says WCVB-TV newscaster Bianca de la Garza, leaving “no room for error” in a 20-minute makeup routine that begins at 4 am. She relies on “good concealer so I don‘t look puffy or tired” and “a smile, which is always the best accessory, no matter what color lipstick you wear.” De la Garza notes that makeup is part of her line of work, even for men. “That said, I don’t parade around in it on my days off. Weekends [mean] lipstick and bronzer, which I skip if I’ve been diligent with my self-tanner,” she says. “TV makeup is an art, and the good makeup artists are like Michelangelo. Me? At 4 am doing my own makeup, it’s about avoiding looking like a Jackson Pollock piece.”

Gregory Balla

It takes 30 minutes and a wardrobe assistant’s help for Blue Man troupe member Gregory Balla to achieve his signature look. “The process is a nice time to transform myself physically and mentally into the character,” says Balla, who appears sans blue in occasional productions with the Lyric Stage and Huntington Theatre companies. Removing all that greasepaint is a process, too. “I also have sensitive skin,” he says, “so I need products that don’t contain fragrances and perfumes.” In winter, Balla liberally applies moisturizer after his shows. “If I leave the warm, moist theater and head out into the cold Boston air, my skin will dry out immediately, especially where the bald cap has been glued down around my neck and face. A great moisturizer calms the irritation and keeps me from getting a dried-out ‘cap line.’ ”

Lindsay Buchholz

“A good cleanser, exfoliant and moisturizer” are essentials for Lindsay Buchholz, wife of Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz. The former host of HDNet travel show Get Out is still a jet-setter—and she prioritizes skin care during her family’s frequent travels. “I also like to use serums for the added antioxidants, and I love how they make my skin glow,” she says. “I’ve been using Epicuren products since my modeling days and get great results. I recently started incorporating Environ products—a Vitamin C- and A-based line—into my regimen and feel like it helps replenish my skin with nutrients that are lost while nursing,” adds the mother of two little girls.
