“I wonder what’s for dinner,” was one of the predictably corny comments overheard during the cocktail hour at the Wonder Ball, a black-tie benefit for the Boston Children’s Museum.
As it turned out, the answer was short ribs, and they were absolutely delicious, as was everything else at the uber-fun and wildly fashionable soiree. Front and center were co-chairs Julie and Phil Gordon, Aisha Al Riyami and Al Wadhah Al Adawi, and Eve and Jonathan Rounds, party pair Ashley and Paul Bernon, stunning blonde Vanessa Kerry and her handsome other half, Brian Nahed, fashion plate Ellie Chu, Beacon Hillions Peter and Liz Georgantas, do-gooders Rachel and Adam Hirsch, book factory Ben Mezrich and his smoking-hot wife, Tonya, the ever elegant Rita Weiner and her debonair husband, Adam, gorgeous Ghanaian Cate Faddis, the intoxicating Uzo Erlingsson and one woman who said, “My definition of creative black tie is no bra and no undies.”
“This is the Children’s Museum, so let’s act like it!” proclaimed one guest, and indeed, the crowd carried on until well past their bedtimes.
Meanwhile, the evening’s funniest moment took place in the men’s room, where one guest commented on the balsam fir-scented urinal cakes, saying, “It’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas.”
