There were plenty of bold-faced names at the Fenway Cultural District’s FACES Gala, held in a rehearsal hall at Boston Conservatory.
On hand to honor Berklee president Roger Brown and Boston Conservatory president Richard Ortner were such arts boosters as BSO head honcho Mark Volpe, music lover Cynthia Curme, New England Conservatory rainmaker Janet Goff, the indefatigable Ted Landsmark, YMCA top dog Aaron Donahue, the absurdly handsome Cam Pierce, rapier wit and all-around dandy Philip Barash, his partner in crime, Erika Fritz, the ubiquitous Ann Heimlicher, real estate mack daddies Albert Lynch and Robert Weintraub, real estate mack mama Nicole Yoshikane, and so on and so forth.
The performances by students were stellar. The wine was a cut above the usual plonk. And the speaking program was blessedly brief. Overheard by the bar: “I feel I’m obligated to have a cultural experience at least once a fortnight.”
“Does Netflix and chill count?”
