Given its history as an edgy, avant-garde institution, it should come as no surprise that the
Institute of Contemporary Art knows how to throw one helluva party.
The ICA Gala, held at the Innovation and Design Building, began with cocktails amid an installation by Brooklyn artist Ryan McNamara and a dance performance by Ron “Prime Tyme” Myles, continued with a superb surf ’n’ turf dinner at long communal tables and concluded with dancing to tracks from the Dap-Kings DJ Bugalu.
The eclectic and diverse crowd included co-chairs Ellen Poss and Charla Jones, the flawless Fotene Demoulas and her debonair husband, Tom Coté, Skinner wine auctioneer Marie Keep with her handsome other half, Jonathan, art curator Abigail Ross Goodman and her bespectacled hipster, Mark, the dashing Edward Johnson and his gorgeous wife, Allison, the unfairly handsome duo of Steve Corkin and Dan Maddalena, Back Bay party pair Shelly and Ofer Nemirovsky, South End party pair Arnold Sapenter and Joseph Reed, pint-sized pistol Jennifer Epstein and her adoring other half, Bill Keravuori, blond beauty Isabelle Loring and her blue-eyed partner in crime, Ian, and one person who looked confused when someone told him he had lipstick on his cheek and said, “The only person who’s kissed me this evening is a man.”
However, the evening’s funniest remark came from the guest who said, “The invitation said, ‘Wear whatever you dare,’ but I think my look is more Hungover and Homeless.”
