A Rose By Any Other Name…

The Park Plaza Castle was rented out by the Capulets for the evening, when Boston Ballet hosted Juliet’s Ball, an extravaganza of epic proportions, to celebrate this season’s production of Romeo and Juliet. The opulent affair began with a cocktail reception and continued with a five-course feast punctuated by performances and a live auction, followed by dessert and dancing into the wee hours.

Prominent among the gorgeously dressed throng: event chair Leslie Appleby, emcee Lisa Pierpont, pint-sized firecracker Lynn Dale and her other half, Frank Wisneski, stunning beauties Nina Fialkow and Audrey Reny, the unsinkable Brittany Greenfield, bright young things Alex and Lianne Leventhal, fashion plate Adele Chang and her dashing husband, Edward Yoon, South End socialites Nina and William Schroeder, and one person who muttered, “The only good auction is a quick auction.”

Regarding the predominance of red ball gowns, one woman accepted a compliment on hers by saying, “Thanks. It matches my eyes,” while another lamented, “I look like a haute-couture tablecloth.”

However, the evening’s funniest remark came from the person who said, “I’m having a major hair malfunction, but I’m going to pretend it’s intentional. Just let me know if any bobby pins end up in my cleavage.”
