The Boston Symphony Orchestra opened its season on Sept. 24 with an all-Russian program that included a performance by acclaimed Chinese pianist Lang Lang, who later joined music director Andris Nelsons in mingling with the 540 benefactors. Chef Patrick Campbell of Café ArtScience prepared the three-course meal, and after-dinner cordials were served onstage. The evening raised $1.5 million.
