An interesting chunk of the intelligentsia gathered to celebrate internationally renowned playwright Joshua Sobol and his residency with Israeli Stage at a reception hosted by philanthropists Louis and Patti Grossman (fresh from a month in Asia) and Bernie and Sue Pucker.
Held at the latter couple’s eponymous Newbury Street art gallery, the evening followed correct liturgical form for gallery gatherings: a wine and cheese reception followed by a talk with the artist. Among the crowd: Emmy-winning actor Brian Cox and his wife, Nicole Ansari, world-famous painter Samuel Bak, soignee board member Naomi Gordon and the always dapper Roger, MassHousing director Thaddeus Miles, WBUR beauty Amory Sivertson, gorgeous 90 West VP Emma-Jean Weinstein, Harvard factotum Laura Fisher, reformed actor Jeff Kubiatowicz, and so on and so forth.
The evening’s best comment: “I hate parties in places like this. I always feel like I’m gonna break something I can’t afford.”
