Improper Publications, Inc. d/b/a The Improper Bostonian Magazine (“Improper”) respects your privacy and will never release any personally-identifiable information about you (such as, without limitation, your name, street and/or e-mail address, telephone number, and/or consumer preferences) without your consent.

Please read this Privacy Policy/User Agreement carefully before accessing our website. By using our website, you are consenting and agreeing to abide by this Privacy Policy/User Agreement, including but not limited to those provisions of this Privacy Policy/User Agreement that pertain to the collection and use of non-personally-identifiable information and personally-identifiable information.

  1. Collection and Use of Non-Personally-Identifiable Information

When you visit one of our Web pages, our server automatically logs your Internet domain or address (IP address) and the Web location you clicked from, so we can tell how many people visit each page and how they find us. If you click on an ad, your click is recorded so we can tell advertisers how many people are responding to their ads. Some of our pages may send a small text file called a “cookie” to your computer so we can identify it when you visit. Most Web browsers are set up to accept cookies, but you can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some popular Web features and services may not function properly if your cookies are disabled.

We also reserve the right to monitor and analyze traffic on our site, through the use of cookies that are placed on your computer to enable this monitoring.

We and/or our advertisers use a third-party advertising company to serve the ads you see on our site. In the course of serving ads to our site, an advertising company may place or recognize a cookie on your computer. This third-party advertising company may use information (not including your name, address, e-mail address, or telephone number) about your visits to our website and other websites, in combination with non-personally-identifiable information about your purchases and interests from other online and offline sources, in order to provide ads that may be of interest to you. In addition, we may share information with this third-party advertising company about visitors’ use of our website and other websites for the purpose of managing and targeting ads and for market research analysis on our website and other websites.

None of the above procedures identifies you personally or collects any personally-identifiable information (such as, without limitation, your name, street and/or e-mail address, telephone number, and/or consumer preferences) about you. We do not, and will not, collect your name, street address, e-mail address, or any other such personally-identifiable information without your consent.

    1. Collection and Use of Personally-Identifiable Information

On certain pages, if you choose to register or sign up for an event or contest sponsored by Improper, a newsletter, a message board, designated advertiser e-mail or some other purpose, we may ask for personally-identifiable information such as your name, street address and/or e-mail address, phone number, consumer preferences, etc… Unless we specifically say so on the registration or data-entry form, we do not, and will not, release any such information to third parties unless (a) we have your consent; or (b) we believe in good faith that we are legally required to do so; or (c) there is an emergency involving personal danger; or (d) you have vandalized our site or otherwise behaved in a manner that warrants our contacting the authorities or your Internet service provider. Please note that your consent can be requested and given on the registration or data-entry form you fill out. For example, if you check a box that says “Yes, I want to receive information from ABC Corporation,” that will be construed as consent for us to share your information with ABC Corporation.

If you place a classified ad or make a purchase through our website, we keep the information you give us and may use it to contact you in the future.

      1. Third Party Ad Servers

Through a partnership with Google AdSense, our website offers advertisements from third-parties. As a result, visitors to our site have the opportunity to access these third-party advertisers through links on our site. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve advertising on our site. You may visit this third-party site for further information regarding their individual privacy policy.

The Improper Bostonian cannot control, and is not responsible for, the internet privacy policies used by these third-party advertisers. In fact, the third-party advertisers who are linked to our site may collect, use, and store information according to their own privacy policies. Depending on their individual privacy policies, the third-party advertisers may automatically receive your IP address, and may download cookies to your computer, when you clink on their link.

The Improper Bostonian does not have access to, or control of, the cookies that may be placed on your computer by the third party advertisers. Also, Google uses the DoubleClick cookie, which enables it and its partners to serve ads to individual users based on those users’ Internet browsing activities. You may opt out of the use of the DoubleClick cookie for interest-based advertising by visiting Ads Settings. You also may opt out of a third-party advertiser’s use of cookies for interest based advertising by visiting the third-party’s website or by going to www.aboutads.info.
