Inspired by the Festival of Italian Literature of London, I AM Books co-founders Nicola Orichuia and Jim Pinzino are creating their own celebration of Italian reads and culture. The inaugural IDEA Boston festival, organized by the North End indie booksmith, will span Nov. 2-3 and include workshops, lectures and readings led by Italian and Italian-American authors and speakers at the Dante Alighieri building in Cambridge. Coinciding with the store’s three-year anniversary, the festival includes a silent film screening, a theatrical performance and will showcase new and acclaimed voices—such as children’s writer Tomie dePaola. “I hope it will contribute and add value to the literary community,” Orichuia says of the festival. “But, more importantly, provide avenues to discuss important topics and have the chance for readers to meet with authors.” To break down the festivities, we got the numbers on all the events that bibliophiles and Italophiles alike can enjoy.
