Pvris won the coveted Artist of the Year prize at Thursday’s annual Boston Music Awards. The Lowell electro-pop group (featured on the cover of the Improper’s August music issue) also took home Song of the Year for “You and I” while frontwoman Lyndsey Gunnulfsen was named Female Vocalist of the Year.
Other big winners at the BMA event held at House of Blues included folk-rockers the Ballroom Thieves (for three awards, including Live Artist of the Year), rapper Cousin Stizz (for Album/EP and Hip-Hop Artist of the Year) and blues singer Julie Rhodes as New Artist of the Year. Familiar winners in other categories included singer Will Dailey, singer-songwriter Ruby Rose Fox, R&B artist Bad Rabbits and metal artist Worshipper.
