In an era where food-truck fleets swell ranks while fine-dining establishments shutter, it’s nice to see some classics soldier on strong as ever. In its fourth decade, L’Espalier’s white-tablecloth elegance still enchants, and chef Frank McClelland’s modern French plates, fresh and flavorful with many ingredients culled from his own Apple Street Farm, remain fanfare-filled events—more than mere “dinners”—best enjoyed through his degustation and tasting journeys. Magnifique.
