Proof that music videos aren’t going anywhere? One word: Lemonade. Beyoncé’s visual album almost broke the Internet when it dropped this spring. But we’re just as excited about the accomplishments of our local pop stars, like indie-pop sextet Air Traffic Controller’s fun-as-hell video for catchy-as-hell single “The House.” Produced and directed by local filmmaker Michael Parks Randa, the video was featured on mtvU and Funny Or Die, swiftly picked up by Spin and immediately had our attention. The video took about two months to complete, and it shows: It’s a slickly produced, appealingly goofy romp through a teen dream world where the families of a nerd and a jock merge, shaking up the natural high-school order.
