We didn’t know that Boston needed a backyard. Then along came the brilliant idea to turn a grassy 2.7-acre parcel on the BCEC’s backside into a summerlong block party with an outdoor bar, live music and some glowing, hoop-shaped swings that became de facto selfie backdrops. Amid all the clinical high-end condo buildings and co-working offices, Lawn on D delivered the Innovation District something actually inspired: a sense of community.
