Last year we mourned the closing of Sam’s at Louis, the best reason to dine in the Seaport. Fortunately, the veteran Sam’s team quickly resurfaced at the Maiden, a Lower End spot with warmly burnished hospitality. Emblematic of its casual sophistication is a deluxe cheese program: 11 options served at the right temperature with preserves, nuts and good bread. Alongside some quality wine and charcuterie, it’s the kind of serene, grownup pleasure missing from Southie’s many punishingly noisy, younger-skewing restaurants.
