This Somerville-born multimedia studio has been twice displaced—first to make room for the Green Line’s as-yet-unrealized extension through the ’hood, then again in January of last year, when a legal battle with its new landlord almost put it out of business for good. Thanks to fundraising efforts from a community of fans and fellow artists, however, Starlab has found new digs in Charlestown, where the studio’s small staff of four has been back to work on local projects in music, photography and film and video production, including a recent music video shoot for local punk band the Dazies and a short sci-fi film shot in Somerville, in collaboration with indie film studio Auspicious Phoenix. And they’re back to work on September’s Starlab Fest, the annual music fest and block party they’ve been throwing for eight years. Keep shining
