This narrow, easy-to-miss South End bar practically vibrates with a venerable history of nightly jazz performances by hallowed veteran musicians and up-and-coming talents from nearby Berklee. The tightly packed crowd is also notably more diverse than at most Boston nightspots. Early-evening jam sessions give way at 9:30 pm to jazz of all stripes as well as blues, funk and salsa. At the tender age of 70, Wally’s is still the most jumping little joint in town.
