Newburyport native David Bazirgan spent 13 years as a chef at trendy San Fran restaurants before returning to the East Coast and breathing new life into the kitchen at Cambridge’s Bambara. His menu reflects multiple global influences, but Bazirgan taps his own Armenian heritage for excellent choereg, the traditional Easter bread—warm loaves sprinkled with za’atar spice and served with salted honey butter. For a nominal $2.50, it’s a fine substitute for free bread service.
