The magic carpet ride continues for Milicent Armstrong, whose family history in weaving and Turkish textiles goes back to the 1800s. Her inspiration for brightly colored patterned loafers crafted from vintage rugs began as a small operation in her South End apartment, though these days she’s pairing up with boutiques and companies as far as Bermuda and Japan as well as U.S. trendsetter Madewell. While Armstrong continues to travel frequently to source for future collections, orders still ship from a space in Allston that’s not too far from her original location.
