T.C. Boyle's 'Outside Looking In'

T.C. Boyle takes readers on a trip to 1962 and the early days of LSD in his latest, Outside Looking In. The books focuses on a psychology Ph.D. candidate and his wife as they develop a close relationship with Timothy Leary, a drug-obsessed Harvard professor searching for a therapeutic use for hallucinogens. As Leary dives into his research—eventually ending up expelled from Harvard—the couple becomes consumed by psychedelic trips and experimentation as they begin communally living with other test subjects.
