Local art lovers know Renzo Piano from his work on the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Harvard Art Museums. Now the Italian starchitect’s latest commission—the new Whitney Museum of American Art—is set to debut on May 1, but Bostonians won’t have to trek to NYC to see a smaller-scale version of sorts. Available in black, Bordeaux, tobacco and a limited-edition blue-gray that mimics the museum facade’s metallic hue, it’s arty arm candy.
