Fear not, Boston bowlers. Although the closing of Cambridge’s Lanes & Games this summer could’ve created a lane crunch in the area, there are actually two bowling alleys popping up this fall, Kings Seaport and Flatbread Company’s new spot in Boston Landing. We’ve lined them up and pinned down the best attributes of each.
Neighborhood: Brighton
Type of bowling: Candlepin
Number of lanes: 7 public, 2 private
Private leagues available: No
Signature eats: Mopsy’s Kalua Pork Pie, topped with pork shoulder or chicken as well as homemade mango BBQ sauce, onions, pineapple and goat cheese
Entertainment: The company of your friends
Other locations: The pizza joint has 13 other locations, but its Somerville spot is the only other one with bowling.
Neighborhood: Seaport
Type of bowling: Tenpin
Number of lanes: 12 public, 4 private
Private leagues available: Yes
Signature eats: Pan-seared mac and cheese, buffalo chicken wontons and bacon Sriracha deviled eggs
Entertainment: Pool tables, air hockey, shuffleboard and a plethora of arcade games
Other locations: There are 10 other locations, including the first Kings, which opened in Back Bay in 2002.
