Urbanites rejoice! This summer
City Hall Plaza transforms into the backyard you wish you had. As part of the Boston Seasons project—a three-year collaboration between the city and local partners to spruce up the Faneuil Hall overlook with regular festivities—the Patios features nine seating areas designed by South End sculptor Jeff Smith using reclaimed industrial metal and locally sourced wood. The space also includes a main pavilion area, which houses Wachusett Brewing Company’s rotating selection of suds, sweet licks from Cambridge’s Honeycomb Creamery and mini golf for visitors to practice their putting. The Patios will also host weekly pop-ups—most notably Wag Wednesdays, showcasing adoptable puppies from Dedham-based Shultz’s Guest House.

Pints, Cones and Books
Between daily programming and pop-ups, the Patios has a packed itinerary.
Starting at 4 pm on weekdays and noon on weekends, Wachusett Brewing Company parks its trademark Airstream under the main pavilion to serve rotating signature pints like the best-selling Blueberry Ale in addition to tap takeovers from guest brewers.
Cambridge dairy darlings Honeycomb Creamery operates a pop-up shop at the entrance to the Patios on Thursday through Sunday from 3 pm to close, offering made-from-scratch cones and flavored scoops such as Thai tea and honey and oats.
There’s five mini-golf holes for guests who want to sneak in some putting practice.
The Boston Public Market’s Blueberry mobile tricycle will roll in for Market Mondays, toting picnic menus, samples and giveaways.
Weekly visits from the Boston Public Library’s Bibliocycle will offer books and summer story sessions.
Food trucks will serve cuisine on the Patios weekdays from 11 am to 3 pm.
