Memo to marathoners: If you spot someone wearing New Balance’s Fresh Foam Zante sneaker, you might want to let your fellow runner pass so you can check out the kicks. The limited-edition Boston version of the shoe ($115) sports an image of the city skyline on the insole, “Boston” stenciled into the iconic “N” and a motivating message, “FASTAH,” on the sole. The team of designers—all runners themselves—hoped to link their love of running to a love for the city where New Balance was founded. “There are small discovery elements that tie back to our favorite city,” says New Balance senior product manager Claire Wood. “And the message on the outsole was inspiration for anyone who runs, and whatever their ‘fastah’ is.”
