If a man’s wealth could be measured in roses, Marty Walsh would be loaded: In addition to his lovely other half, Lorrie Higgins, he has the Kelleher Rose Garden in the Fens, where the two of them hosted the 21st annual Rose Garden Party to benefit Boston’s public park system.
As always, when it came to hats, guests brought their A-game, among them: blond beauty Adrienne Camire, Antiguan princess Colette Phillips, Downtown Connie Brown, white-hot florist Jimmy Guzman, trouble twins Molly Dunne and Joan Jolley, the always-ready-for-the-Royal- Enclosure-at-Ascot Maggie Ahearn with her other half, Kevin, red-hot mama Kelley Tuthill, BSO babe Kim Noltemy, latter-day Louise Brooks Jane Roy, style avatar Erica Corsano, Chronicle stunner Shayna Seymour, Huntington Theatre Company grand pooh-bah Michael Maso, party pair Lisa and Ron Simons and my fellow hat contest judges, fashion historian Kathleen McDermott, fashion stylist and designer Elisha Daniels and milliner-to-the-stars Marie Galvin. In fact, the only person glaringly absent was one of the event’s founders, former Parks and Recreation spokesperson Mary Hines, who was battling cancer on Cape Cod. That she was there in spirit was reflected in the roses, though, which never looked lovelier, and which one attendee chose to interpret as a sign that she was doing well.
“I love your fascinator,” said one guest, to which the response was “Thanks. It was $12.99 at Target.”
Meanwhile, a gorgeous sunset made everyone eminently Instagrammable. As one guest put it, “In this light, I don’t even look fat.”
