Christmas in the City brings holiday cheer to thousands of needy children and their families each December, but the magic really began on July 27 at the charity’s Christmas in July event. More than 100 guests gathered at the Seaport Boston Hotel for raffles, a live auction and appearances by Santa and event founder Jake Kennedy, who dressed as an elf. The evening raised more than $10,000 as well as 50 toys that’ll turn up under the tree later this year.
