You know you’re at the right party when an enormous suburban parking lot has no spaces left. Faith in Fashion, a fundraiser for the post- traumatic stress disorder program at Roxbury
Presbyterian Church, attracted an SRO crowd to the American Legion hall in Newton.
The brainchild of the Rev. Liz Walker and fashion designer David Josef, the evening began with cocktails and a delicious buffet and continued with a live auction and fashion show featuring the work of Josef, BlancoMaj, Iam Kreyol, Denise Hajjar and Marie Galvin.
Front and center: The stunning Robyn Glover, there to watch her mother, Lynette Glover-
Griffin, strut the runway, the latter’s husband, Skip, Wellesley hipsters Lynne and Gary Smith, bespoke tailor Alan Rouleau, the dazzlingly gorgeous Karen Holmes Ward, fashion plate Jacqui Budd, supermodel Hollis Colby, restaurateur Sonia Garufi, Broadway babe Mary Callanan, recent Harvard grad Norma Heath, the legendary Yolanda Cellucci, proud mom Shondell Davis, avuncular priest the Rev. Alex Oneto, the uber-stylish Becky Vercollone (wearing a gorgeous dress she bought in Australia, designed by an aboriginal woman), her talented other half, Bob, and one woman who found out that it was a cash bar and joked, “Thank goodness I did well stripping last night.”
However, the evening’s best comment came from the woman who said, “Once you become a mom, your handbag goes from a place to store your makeup to a receptacle for Cheerios, diaper wipes and SpongeBob crap.” ◆
