The Esplanade is a hotbed of hotties working out on any given day, but at the Moondance Gala—a black-tie benefit for the Esplanade Association—the only strength training going on was lots of cocktail curls, while the aerobic exercise came from getting sweaty on the dance floor (unless you count yours truly trying to shoehorn into my tuxedo after a summer of overindulgence).
The cocktail hour threatened to stretch into two as volunteers gamely tried to corral the crowd into the dining tent, which was decorated with gigantic moss-covered chandeliers and long white tables.
Prominent among the prominent throng: co-chairs Lori and Matthew Sidman and Jean and Christopher Egan, the naturally carbonated
Jennifer Poveromo and her delightful mother, Deborah McIntire, the devastatingly handsome David Chen and Peter Crosby, Beacon Hillions Yvette and Peter Mulderry, the absurdly gorgeous Nicole Conlon and her charming other half, Michael, dashing reprobate David Fialkow with the ridiculously gorgeous Nina, blond bombshell Kristin Casey and the debonair Joe, salty dog Jonathan Bingham and the flawless Lily, the swan-like Stephanie Warburg and her distinguished main man, Jonathan, noted photographer Tess Atkinson, white-hot floral designer Marc Hall, the incorrigible Cheryl Franklin, equestrienne extraordinaire Beth Johnson, Nantucket nabobs Kate Lubin and Glendon Sutton, designer to the stars Eric Roseff and his real estate mogul husband, Colin Sullivan, blue-blooded do-gooder Julie Hume Gordon (looking spectacular in a canary yellow evening gown), Our Lady of Chanel, Mary Nobile-King, fanatical football fan Linda Tedder,
fashionista Daniela Corte and the super-suave Stuart Roseman. The auction raised an enormous amount of money to keep the Esplanade looking spiffy, and the party got an infusion of new energy as younger guests arrived for the dance party.
The evening’s best exchange:
“It’s starting to get darker earlier.”
“Good. That means I can go to bed sooner.” ◆
