Wednesday might be Prince Spaghetti Night in the North End, but the annual Spaghetti Dinner for the Women’s Lunch Place took place on a Friday at the Fairmont Copley Plaza.
The fundraiser honoring the incomparable Estrellita Karsh had an art theme and began with a cocktail reception and silent auction of dozens of works by leading artists. On hand were such uber supporters as Michele and Howard Kessler, MFA head Matthew Teitelbaum and his other half, Susan Cohen, bibliophile Anne Bromer, the super sparkly Ellen Frank, Back Bay glamazon Christy Cashman, dashing do-gooder Mark Lippolt, public health hottie Greg Kane, banking heartthrob Kevin Walther, the gorgeous trifecta of Michele Lord, Pat Elliott and Carolyn Crowley, South End lovebirds Arnold Sapenter and Joseph Reed, Playbill publisher Tim Montgomery and the lovely Rita Fucillo, arts booster Suzanne Schultz, power couple Jim Manzi and Kay Calvert, software entrepreneur Dean Goodermote and his partner in crime, Diane Arnold, writer/photographer Robert Pushkar and real estate mack daddy Ken Tutunjian, to name a mere few.
The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious (and a welcome change from the usual beef tenderloin or chicken breast served at charity functions), prompting one guest to say, “Finally, a party with carbs.”
Meanwhile, the evening’s best exchange: “How old are your kids?”
“I want to say 3 and 5, because it sounds much better than 18 and 21.”
