Chaos Chaos

Dreamy synth-pop and cartoons starring a sociopathic scientist typically don’t go hand-in-hand. That is, until the Seattle sister act Chaos Chaos found a fan in Justin Roiland, the co-creator of cult TV hit Rick and Morty. Chaos Chaos’ haunting “Do You Feel It?” packed an emotional gut-punch to the end of a surprisingly dark 2015 episode of the cartoon—skyrocketing the duo’s Spotify streams and leading to two new tracks, including the goofy pastiche “Terryfold,” which managed to chart on Billboard’s Hot Rock Songs in September. Asya and Chloe Saavedra originally began releasing music in 2000 under the name Smoosh and embraced a new band name and sound driven by epic synths and confessional lyrics on a pair of EPs released in 2014 and 2015. The two siblings are fresh off the April release of their single “Pink Politics” and have a full-length album due later this year—but first, get chaotic with Chaos Chaos at the Middle East on June 3. / Nathan Tavares
