Christmas weekend’s a bit light on shows, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get your Friday night groove on. Boston’s own Spiritual Rez brings its jubilant reggae fusion back to town at House of Blues on Friday, opening for the Sublime tribute band Badfish. And before next month’s CD release that features John Medeski, rotating Moroccan jazz-dub collective Club d’elf (pictured) celebrates the season at the Lizard Lounge with sax guest Dana Colley, who once spent time with bassist Mike Rivard in Orchestra Morphine and the Hypnosonics. Also on Friday, spirited local rockabilly outfit the Raging Teens stage a 20th anniversary bash at O’Briens.
Tip ahead: The Roots—best known as Jimmy Fallon’s TV house band—stir up their hip-hop classics and cover-tune dalliances during their traditional day-after-Christmas show at House of Blues on Monday. Have a Merry!
